A study by Parks Associates has found that Smart TV ownership in broadband households is around 40% in Germany and Spain, but only 33% in the UK. It has also found that PC-to-TV connections are ‘far higher’ than they are in the USA; at 54% in Spain and 38% in Germany and the UK. “Unfortunately, this approach has produced a fragmented user experience”, said director of research Bruce Sappington. “Players in the video market, including pay TV providers, have a real opportunity to differentiate themselves via a compelling, easy-to-use, unified user experience for consumers”, he concluded.
