Diagrams of LG’s prototype VR headset, highlighted by the RoadtoVR blog show off the device’s unique design.
The images show that the headset—named UltraGear if a recent trademark filing is anything to go by—will have the ability to split apart at the front, from in between the two displays, via a spring-loaded grommet system that can provide enough stability to remain connected during normal use. The device will also feature integrated earbuds that can be stored inside the headset shell when not in use, similar to the latest version of PlayStation VR.
At press time, it wasn’t clear whether these drawings relate to LG’s SteamVR headset or a separate, standalone device. The entire patent can be viewed on the LetsGoDigital website.
