Partnership Leads to Philips’ First QD TV

Philips has partnered with QD Vision once again, this time to release its first quantum dot LCD TV: the 55PUF6850/T3. It is the second Philips-brand display to use QD Vision’s optical components – the first being last month’s 276E6ADS LCD monitor.

While the monitor covers 99% of the Adobe RGB gamut, Philips claims 100% NTSC coverage with its new 55″ TV. Ambilight is also built in, which should provide a very full-featured colour experience!

400Hz Perfect Motion Rate is intended to sharpen images and lower motion blur. The TV is also a smart set, with WiFi connectivity.

A full spec sheet has not been released by Philips yet. We know that the set has UltraHD resolution and features HDMI (x2), VGA, component, USB 2.0 (x2) and USB 3.0 ports.

Although the TV is apparently available now, no pricing or distribution details have been shared. Philips UK told us that there are no plans to launch the set in Europe.
