Parade Combines Stylus, Glove and Wet Finger Tracking

Parade Technologies has introduced two new touchscreen controllers, in the TrueTouch line acquired from Cypress Semiconductor in August. The TT41X and TT42X controller families are capacitive units, targeting premium tablets and in-cell smartphones, respectively.

Both controller families support the use of passive styli, with a stylus tip down to 2.5mm. Additionally, the TT41X supports high signal to noise ratio long-side scanning; the TT42X supports dual-touch wet -finger tracking, selectable screen-wake gestures and thick-gloved multi-touch support.

Both controllers automatically switch between globe, stylus and finger tracking. They are offer water rejection, wet-finger tracking and immunity to electronic noise. Both units feature up to 88 IOs, with I2C and SPI interfaces.

A 32-bit ARM Cortex M-Core processor – known for high MIPS-per-milliwatt efficiency, says Parade – is installed in both controllers. They are in production and available in a 111-uBGA package.
