What They Say
Panasonic what it claims to be ‘the world’s lightest 3LCD projector with a fixed lens in the 7,000 lumens category’. The PT-VMZ71 weighs 7.2kg. This is the top model of a four projector series and each of them has 1920 x 1200 resolution, with output going down to
5,200 Ansi lumerns. The other models have 1.6X optical zoom and are based on Panasonic’s “Solid Shine” laser light source, but power consumption is said to be 15% down on earlier models.
The series will replace the PT-VMZ60 series and will be available in February.
What We Think
Interestingly, the specification for the projector shows 10K in one view and 7K lumens when the ‘full specification’ is viewed. The company also references Solid Shine which has previously been used to describe combined LED and laser phosphor light sources, although the spec for the new one only mentions laser sources. (BR)
