Panasonic Detachable Toughbook Has Highly Specified Display

Panasonic has added to its Toughbook range by adding the “33” detachable notebook which has a 12″ 2160 x 1440 (3:2) chosen to give more vertical height for reading 8.5″ x 11 (US Letter) paper and is said to cause less interference around airbag zones for better vehicle-occupant safety. It has a direct bonded display which is very bright with 1,200 cd/m² of output and a PCap touch system that can be used with gloves. It also has an IP55 digitiser pen.

The notebook meets IP65 and MIL-STD-810G and runs Windows 10 on Intel Core i5 and i7 CPUs (although there is a Windows 7 downgrade available). There are dual hot swappable batteries and with a claimed 10 hours of use and a long life battery that extends this to 20 hours. Windows Hello is supported with an infrared camera and there are fingerprint and iris scanning features. Fixed or add-on smart card readers are available along with other accessories.

Two different docks for vehicle use, one in tablet mode and the other with a keyboard so that the notebook can be mounted in tablet or notebook mode. The company also has a vehicle dock adaptor for customer’s with existing docks, to allow them to be used with the new PC.

The notebook costs from $3,649 depending on configuration.

The new Toughbook has a 12″ screen with a high brightness bonded display.
