63.1 million OLED displays were shipped worldwide in Q2’15, according to The OLED Association (OLED-A), up 7% QoQ and 28% YoY. 91% of these shipments were for smartphones, followed by wearables (7%) and small tablets (1%). Quanta Computer says it is to end its research and development partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this year, after 10 years of co-operation. The Taiwanese firm has already begun to move equipment back from MIT, saying that the partnership has already achieved its original goal.

The switch to digital broadcasting is on track in South Africa. The Minister of Communications has planned a consultation with the Cabinet, about the planned date to launch the country’s DTT platform. Orders for DTT STBs will be placed before the end of the month.
