Michael Dell has told attendees of EMC World that he intends to close the EMC acquisition (Dell Pays $67 Billion for EMC) by mid-July. Other executives, from both firms, echoed his statement at the Las Vegas event. EMC’s official word, however, is that the deal will close “between June and October”.

Thales has signed a deal with the Spanish Ministry of Defence to supply its Scorpion helmet-mounted displays to the EF-18 aircraft. The 80 units to be supplied will be installed in 2016 and 2017, following the operational qualification phase and various tests.

Sources in Taiwan have said that Asus will show off third-generation models in its Zenfone family in June. Over 90% of the Zenfone 3 units will use Qualcomm processors; the others will use Mediatek.
Asus’ April revenues fell sharply, down 42.4% MoM and 12.7% YoY, to NT$26.1 billion ($799.3 million). Year-to-date revenues were up 3.1% YoY, at NT$136.1 billion ($4.2 billion). Acer has said that its consolidated revenues fell 42.1% MoM and 11.2% YoY in April. Revenues reached NT$14 billion ($428.8 million), with year-to-date revenues of NT$70.4 billion ($2.2 billion) (down 16.2%).
Foxconn’s April revenues were down 5.1% MoM and 8.5% YoY in April, to NT$322.4 billion ($9.9 billion). In the first four months of the year, revenues fell 6.3% to NT$1.3 trillion ($39.8 billion).
Ateme’s Titan compression system was used by Spanish public broadcaster RTVE to broadcaster the ‘Parsifal’ opera from Teatro Real last month, in UltraHD. The broadcast used both satellite and terrestrial networks. The signal was encoded at 30Mbps using the Main10 profile and HEVC codec.
