Three new professional DLP projectors, in BenQ’s Colorific range, are dual-lamp and high-brightness models. The PX9710, PW9620 and PU9730 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 38) share features and are only differentiated by their resolution; brightness; and throw ratio.
Each of the new P-Series projectors is designed for installation, and measures 510 x 540 x 230mm and weighing 21kg without a lens. They show 10-bit colour and feature two interchangeable colour wheels, favouring either brightness or colour accuracy. They have the ability to be installed in any orientation (360 deg projection) and offer motorised zoom (depending on the lens, from 1.25x to 1.55x), focus and lens shift capabilities (up to +/-50% vertical, +/10% horizontal). Additionally, they all share +/-30 deg vertical keystone correction.
10 customisable lens memory settings can be saved on each projector. They can also be calibrated for linearity, colour fidelity, bleed and distortion using the 14 internal test patterns. Multiple projectors can be managed via LAN, as the new models are compatible with PJ-Link, Crestron and AMX systems. Edge blending is also possible, using the mechanical shutter.
A solid-state heat-pipe cooling system keeps thermals under control, complemented by a 10-fan array. An integrated capacitor will keep the cooling system operational in the event of a power failure to avoid lamp damage. The projectors use dual 350W lamps, lasting for between 2,000 and 2,500 hours.
Each model has a 2,800:1 contrast ratio and can throw an 80″ – 500″ image. They also share connections: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, 5-BNC, RJ45 (for control, compatible with HDBaseT), USB-B, RS232 and two IR receivers.
The PX9710 has 1024 x 768 resolution and 7,700 lumens of brightness. Throw ratios range from 0.79:1 to 5.5-8.56:1. Resolution and brightness of the PW9620 are 1280 x 800 and 6,700 lumens; it has 0.8:1 to 5.56-8.67:1 throw ratios. Finally, the PU9730 has 1920 x 1200 resolution; 7,000 lumens of brightness; and throw ratios between 0.76:1 and 5.31-8.26:1.
Available now (through distributor Midwich in the UK), the new projectors cost €4,165 (PX9710 and PW9620) and €6,665 (PU9730). Prices are ex VAT without a lens.
