OQmented and Brilliance Partner on Laser Beam Scanning Technology for AR

OQmented and Brilliance have partnered on laser beam scanning (LBS) technology for augmented reality (AR) applications. LBS technology, which uses a combined RGB laser beam directed onto a tiny oscillating MEMS mirror to generate images, offers benefits in terms of brightness, system size, and power efficiency making it ideal for wearable devices like AR glasses.

OQmented is developing a high-volume manufacturing process that assembles light engines on a wafer level, integrating thousands of light engines per wafer and reducing processing steps. Brilliance is contributing its ultra-compact RGB laser chips on a wafer, which scale with high accuracy, and integrating with OQmented’s light engines. The integration should reduce optical components, simplify the alignment process, minimizes system size, and create greater efficiencies.
