Oppo Will Have a Full CMS Next Year

What They Say

Oppo said in its technical event this week that its Find X3 series would support the DCI P3 colour gamut with 10 bit colour and that it would have a managed pipeline to ensure consistent colour performance from camera to display. The smartphones will also support HDR image capture and will be adjustable for colour blind users.

Oppo will use a screen calibration procedure to bring the color accuracy of its screens to around 0.4 JNCD and with a D65 white point.

What We Think

In a closed system such as a smartphone, it is simpler to ensure a consistent CMS. It’s good to see more firms looking to support P3, which Apple has been doing for some years. (BR)
