OLED Thrashes Plasma in Display Shootout

HDTVTest, Leeds Trinity University and UK retailer Crampton and Moore ran a public display shootout in the UK recently. Two OLED TVs (Panasonic’s CZ950 and LG’s EF9500) were compared to Panasonic’s last (and widely considered to be the best) plasma TV, the ZT60. Each was calibrated and shown to a panel of 28 ‘AV enthusiasts’. Of these 28, two were disqualified and only three voted for the plasma display: 12 went to Panasonic and 11 to LG.

LG’s TV was favoured because it is flat and has HDR, but viewers said that the CZ950 had better colours and brightness uniformity
