Nvidia Canvas Turns Sketches into Photorealistic Scenes

What They Say

It’s quiet with the US July 4th holiday, so I’m drifting slightly off the display hardware topic. Nvidia has, in beta and only for those running Windows 10 with a suitable Nvidia GPU, a project called Canvas that uses the GPU and AI to create photo=realistic images from rough sketches. As well as adding elements using 15 tools (e.g. mountains or weather effects), the software integrates the elements in the scene to make the effect look realistic.

The images are not just pulled from a library, but are synthesized using AI.

What We Think

Wow! This could make storyboarding so much quicker, easier and more accurate. It will also make me a little more sceptical about some of those amazing scenes from the world that are sometimes seen in photography competitions! I wonder if camera makers are integrating the technology to allow NFTs to be created automatically with an image so that it can be ‘proved’ that an image came from a particular time, place and camera?
