What They Say
HDTVTest reported that new QLED TVs will be sold in Europe (initially in DACH) under the Nokia name and using QLED technology. The sets are being sold under a licence by Streamview GmbH of Vienna, Austria and are based on the Android operating system.
Prices will start at approximately €650 (£543) for the smallest 43″ model, rising to €1,600 (£1,330) for the 70″ version. The 50″, 55″ and 58″ models will be priced at €750, €850 and €900, respectively. There are more details here.
What We Think
I’ve really included this for completeness as there seems to be little that is innovative in the sets. There are lots of licensed brands in the European market, usually with sets made in Turkey. Of course, back in the day, Nokia had a great reputation for the quality of its CRT displays and, no doubt, Streamview will be hoping to benefit from that as well as the recognition of consumers of the brand.
