Nintendo Plans Switch Model With Bigger Samsung OLED Display

What They Say

Bloomberg reported that the next version of the Nintendo Switch console will use a 7″ OLED from Samsung Display which will be put into production in June. The 720P panel is intended for production at around 1 million per month. The new console is also reported to be able to support UltraHD graphics on suitable TVs.

The console size is expected to remain the same, but with a thinner bezel.

What We Think

This story developed over the last 24 hours to become a little more certain. Of course, it’s a rumour, but Bloomberg is a credible source.

I noticed today that the PlayStation 5 is still out of stock with Amazon locally (I looked last time before Christmas). Still, console sales have been solid and the Switch needs to react to the newer PS and XBox consoles. My family like the Switch and when visiting they have been known to bring the consoles so that the littler ones can play their favourite games (although the Untitled Goose Game won me quite a lot of peace, for a while!).
