New Large-Format Monochrome Ultra-Glow LCD Marine Instrument Displays from Garmin

Garmin GNX 130 LCD display

Garmin’s new marine monitors are said to show the brightest, most visible digits on the market. Both the 7″ GNX 120 and 10″ GNX 130 are ultra-glow anti-fog (optically-bonded) displays, using an inverted LCD display to show white or colour digits on a black background (seven different pre-set colours available). They are transflective units that do not require the backlight to be turned on in daylight, lowering power consumption to 0.36W, or 0.4W at night.

Five display modes – including single, dual and triple functions, Gauge and Graph modes – are featured. Both monitors possess customisable user profiles, so owners can adjust the screen layout to their own preference.

Showing more than 50 marine and vessel parameters, the GNX monitors are NMEA 2000-certified and IPX7-compliant. They can operate between -15° and 70°.

Display specifications are still being finalised. The GNX 120 will be available in February, for $900, while the GNX 130 will be launched in May for $1,500.
