Netflix CEO Rules Out Live Sports, News and Advertising

Netflix recently held its Labs Day press event in Hollywood, where the company’s CEO, Reed Hastings, stated that it has no plans to launch any kind of live TV service, including sports and news, or host adverts, unlike some of its competitors.

“To follow a competitor? Never, never, never. We have so much we want to do in our area, so we’re not trying to copy others. There’s lots of things we don’t do. We don’t do news, we don’t do sports. But what we do do, we try to do really well”.

Disney will launch its own streaming service in 2019, a move that will see all of its content removed from Netflix. (Disney Streaming Service Will be “Substantially Cheaper” than Netflix)
