NEC Display Solutions, in the US and in Europe, has officially announced the UN551S and UN551VS video wall monitors which were previewed at ISE and Infocomm. The monitors use direct-lit LED panels based on S-IPS technology and with a claimed 0.9mm around each display, so with image-to-image gaps of 1.8mm. The panels support 10 bit colour and have 500 cd/m² output (UN551VS) and 700 cd/m² (UN551S). There is dynamic dimming for high contrast ratio and the integrated scaling software can support UltraHD input resolutions using DisplayPort 1.2 daisy chaining.
NEC features including AutoID, Auto IP Address, Auto TileMatrix, a carbon footprint meter and NaviSet Administrator 2 are supported, along with optional colour calibration software. The sets are available now at a minimum advertised price of $6,999 (UN551S) and $5,499 (UN551VS). Warranty is three years.
