NEC America’s newest 32″ LCD monitor is a versatile model that can be used for indoor signage and messaging. The V232-2 is available in its standard configuration, or – through an OPS slot – can be supplied with a digital TV tuner (V232-2-AVT), an embedded Windows PC (V232-2-PC) or an Android 4.2.2 media player (V232-2-DRD).
As well as providing various content options, the display has been redesigned compared to NEC’s older units. It is 35% slimmer, 27% lighter and has a 44% slimmer bezel.
Temperature and ambient light sensors are built in. A carbon footprint meter is also featured. The display can be used in either portrait or landscape modes and can be used as part of a video wall, up to 10 x 10.
Resolution of the ‘commercial grade’ IPS panel is 1920 x 1080, with 178° viewing angles, 60Hz refresh rate and 1,300:2 contrast ratio. The edge-LED backlight supplies 320 cd/m² of brightness to the display (typical). DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, RS232, RJ45 and IR inputs are featured. Two 8W speakers are also built in.
NEC is selling the V232-2 now, for $680. Non-standard options cost $840 (V232-2-AVT), $900 (V232-2-DRD) and $1,550 (V232-2-PC).
