Motorola has added its Moto 360 smartwatch to the Moto Maker service. Using Moto Maker, customers can customise their watch with different casings, straps and faces.
This might not seem like a big deal, but it is likely to be key to Motorola’s value proposition going forward. The company can roll-out upgrades faster, for example, and allow people to choose to add them for themselves. It will also bring some of the joy back into shopping – when someone designs their own product, even if it’s just choosing from a fairly limited list of parts, there is a more personal attachment to the item.
