The CL920 rugged tablet, from UK-based Motion Computing, will run for eight hours on battery and fully charge in 90 minutes. Built around an internal magnesium frame, the tablet is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It meets the MIL-STD-810G and IP52 ratings and uses a chemical-resistant chassis, for easy cleaning.
An optical enhancement film, called View Anywhere, enables outdoor use of the tablet. Motion claims a 225% contrast enhancement, in sunlight, over the standard display, as well as wider (180 deg) viewing angles and a reduction in reflectance.
As well as 4G connectivity, the CL920 features WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It is compatible with various peripherals from Motion, such as the Slatemate – adding a barcode scanner and magstripe reader – and in-vehicle lockable dock.
10-point procap touch is used to interact with the tablet. Input from a digitiser pen (included) can also be recognised. The CL920 has a 10.1″ dual-bonded display with 1366 x 768 resolution. Windows 7 or 8.1 run on an Intel Pentium (Bay Trial) processor, clocked at 2.16GHz. Users can choose models with either a 64GB or 128GB SSD. Micro-HDMI and USB 3.0 ports are featured.
Motion will release the CL920 this quarter, but has not announced a price yet.
