More Ups and Downs for Taiwan Manufacturers in 2018 Q1

Acer has reported revenues of NT$22.64 billion ($773.5 million) for March, a small growth of 1.42% year-on-year. Revenue in the first quarter of 2018 reached NT$54.77 billion ($US1.87 billion), down 2.28% on the same quarter a year before.

Meanwhile, Compal’s revenue rose 35.24% month-on-month in March — totalling NT$78.36 billion ($2.67 billion) — but declined 0.95% year-on-year. The company’s consolidated revenues in the first quarter of 2018 were NT$196.1 billion ($6.69 billion), up 4.63% year-on-year.

LED firm Epistar reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.776 billion ($60.63 million) in March, a growth of 18.7% month-on-month but a decline of 20.39% year-on-year. Consolidated revenues for the first quarter of the year came to NT$5.148 billion ($175.74 million), dropping 10.23% year-on-year.

Foxconn reported consolidated revenues of NT$349.15 billion ($11.95 billion) for March 2018, an increase of 25.7% month-on-month and 2.2% year-on-year. Consolidated revenues for the first quarter totalled NT$1.02 trillion ($34.82 billion), a growth of 5.22% year-on-year.

Another LED company, Everlight Electronics, reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.108 billion ($71.97 million) for March, a growth of 19.16% month-on-month but a drop of 16.88% year-on-year. Consolidated revenue for the quarter came to NT$6.268 billion ($214 million), declining 6.66% year-on-year.

Notebook ODM Inventec reported consolidated revenues of NT$39.5 billion ($1.35 billion) for March, growing 36.76% month-on-month and 5.19% year-on-year. Consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2018 came to NT$104.81 billion ($3.58 billion), a year-on-year growth of 5.07%.

LED firm Lextar saw NT$921.4 million ($31.46 million) consolidated revenues in March, a growth of 21.49% month-on-month but a 25.17% drop on the previous year. Consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2018 totalled NT$2.648 billion ($90.41 million), a year-on-year decline of 15.69%.

Pegatron saw consolidated revenues of NT$82.99 billion ($2.82 billion) in March, an 8.01% improvement on February and 11.22% on March 2017. The company’s consolidated revenues for the first quarter were NT$280.89 billion ($9.59 billion) in total, a growth of 17.53%.

Quanta’s consolidated revenues for March came to NT$71.85 billion ($2.45 billion), a growth of 11.75% month-on-month but a decline of 2.65% year-on-year. Consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2018 dropped 3.1% year-on-year, down to NT$220.93 billion ($7.45 billion).

Semiconductor manufacturer TSMC reported consolidated revenues of NT$103.7 billion ($3.55 billion) for March, up 60.4% month-on-month and 20.8 year-on-year, a record growth figure for the firm. The company’s consolidated sales for the first quarter of 2018 came to NT$248.08 billion ($8.47 billion), climbing 6.1% year-on-year but declined 10.6% from the fourth quarter of 2017.
