What They Say
In digging around about the new Samsung Display OLED materials (Samsung Display Unveils New Low-power OLED Display for Smartphones), reported to be an M11 OLED materials set by The Elec, we found an article from ET News in August 2020, quoting Stone Partners, that identified Samsung SDI, Duksan Neolux and Doosan Solas as suppliers for that generation of materials.
The report said that Samsung SDI would supply green host material while Duksan Neolux and Doosan Solus would supply (the) red and green prime material and A-ETL (Electron Transporting Layer) respectively. Duksan Neolux was also set to supply the HTL (Hole Transporting Layer) in addition to red and green prime. UDC, DuPont and SFC (a J/V of Samsung and Hodagaya Chemical) are supplying dopants. DSCC has reported that Idemitsu Kosan is also a supplier.
The report also said that the M11 set would be used by Apple in its 2021 smartphones.
What We Think
I wouldn’t claim any particular expertise on this topic. However, I assume that there must be issues of cost related to the use of the M11 set only on the S21 Ultra smartphones. (BR)
