MOCVD Set Sales To Grow

Digitimes has reported ‘industry sources’ in China as saying that 1,800 old MOCVD sets will need to be replaced between 2018 and 2020, representing 58% of the total number of sets and around 50% of the capacity. The paper said that local authorities in China had stopped or largely reduced subsidisation, but local vendors (including San’an Optoelectronics, HC SemiTek and Huaian Aucksun Optoelectronics Technology) are still boosting capacity.

San’an Optoelectronics has 286 MOCVD sets currently and will add another 94 by the end of 2017 and plans to add another 50 in 2018

According to LEDInside, 136 new sets were delivered in 2016.

The value of the equipment market is forecast to grow from $614.8 million in 2016 to $1.1628 billion in 2021 at a CAGR of 14%, said analyst, Technavio who identified the key equipment makers as
