Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Studio Has 120 Hz Display, Tiger Lake H35

What They Say

Microsoft released new Surface PCs. The Surface Studio has a hinge half way up the back of the display. The display can be used in a ‘Stage mode’ to hide the keyboard or attached like a regular notebook. The 14.4″ display has 2400×1600 format with a touch display and up to 120Hz refresh. There are dual USB 4 ports with Thunderbolt 4. It will be released on October 5th in the US and will cost from $1,599. The core i5 version has Intel Iris Xe graphics, while the Core i7 device has an Nvidia RTX A2000.

The system can reduce refresh rates to 30 or 40Hz to improve battery life. It is compatible with the Surface Slim Pen 2 ($130).

The Surface Pro 8 also supports 120Hz and has a 2880 x 1920 (3:2) multitouch display. It has Dolby Vision support and the Slim Pen 2

The Surface Duo 2 is a new Android folding smartphone with dual displays. The resolution of each OLED is 1344 x 1892 (401ppi) and they can refresh up to 90Hz while covering 100% of sRGB and DCI-P3 with 800 cd/m² of output and protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus. There’s a new triple camera array, a Snapdragon 888 chip and 5G support. It costs $1,499 for the base model.

What We Think

Given that Microsoft seems to tend to use the Surface devices as a way to push its system partners, I’m slightly surprised that the company hasn’t gone for OLED son the Surface PCs. (BR)
