Microoled, STMicroelectronics, and Quanta Computer are collaborating on a reference design for AR smart glasses aimed at real-time information display in sports and outdoor activities.

Quanta will engineer and manufacture the design, which is built around STMicroelectronics’ STM32U5 series microcontroller. The reference design uses Microoled’s Light AR software and can be customized with different optics and display modules. It integrates with ActiveLook firmware, making it compatible with sports applications and ActiveLook-enabled smartwatches. The companies state that this initiative will help eyewear manufacturers develop and deploy glasses with low power consumption and advanced graphics capabilities.
Microoled has previously developed its ActiveLook platform for heads-up displays in sports eyewear. The company’s technology has been integrated into products (such as certain Engo brand glasses) focused on real-time data display for athletic activities.
