What They Say
The New York Times reported that Meta has discussed possibly opening retail stores (probably to be called Meta Store) globally to promote its VR and, later, AR hardware. Work on the idea is said to have started last year and the move is based on the idea that showing customers what the experience is would drive growth. The Times reports that Meta has previously opened “pop-up” kiosks at airports and in Manhattan to promote Oculus hardware.
What We Think
Apple has and Microsoft had hardware stores. Apple’s retail business is substantial, but others have not done so well. Apple does have a lot more than one application to promote. (BR)
