Meizu has launched an offline payment function for augmented reality glasses, beginning with integration into their StarV Air2 model. The payment system, developed in collaboration with Ant International’s Alipay+ team, enables transactions directly through the glasses without requiring a smartphone. The function combines optical waveguide display, voice capture, and code scanning technologies. Implementation is scheduled for Q3 2025, with plans to include the feature in all Meizu smart glasses released this year.
Market data indicates the StarV series currently holds a significant share of China’s AR smart glasses market. The StarV Air2 features a MicroLED display system and tempered glass optical waveguide lenses. Meizu has also integrated AI capabilities, working with its Flyme AI model alongside third-party platforms from Alibaba Cloud, ByteDance, and Baidu.
The company operates as part of DreamSmart Group, which maintains product lines across smartphones, XR technology, and smart vehicles.
