Leading consumer electronics company and smartphone manufacturer MEIZU officially introduced its latest m series product, MEIZU m3s, at a product release conference in Beijing, China on June 13.
MEIZU m3s is the metal variant of the company’s latest affordable offering MEIZU m3. It keeps most features of its predecessor while offering the following unique features:
- Metallic Body
- Fingerprint Recognition Functionality
MEIZU m3s comes with an all metal body with a 5-inch HD (1280 × 720) 2.5D curved glass display and a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. It also features the Flyme 5.1 operating system, an in-depth customization from Android.
By employing a 360 degree sandblasting technique, MEIZU has given the device a delicate and soft-to-touch texture. The m3s also carries fingerprint recognition technology by applying a fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone. With a newly designed fingerprint recognition algorithm, the m3s offers a 0.2-second unlock and largely improved accuracy. The fingerprint sensor is covered by tempered glass with high wear resistance which can provide for up to 10 million touches.
Targeting the entry-level smartphone segment, MEIZU launched its lower priced m Series back in December 2014. According to Li Nan, vice president of MEIZU, “The m3s inherits a number of the characteristics of the m3, but at the same time is completely different. The m3 has been well received in the market since it was launched but we realize that customers have different needs for smartphones around USD100. Some prefer a colorful design to express personality, while others want a higher cost performance ratio.”
“The MEIZU m3s is an alternative option for youngsters who are seeking a nice, compact phone that performs well and we believe both it and the m3 offer the best choice in affordable, easy to use, high specification smartphones.”
The m3s is available in silver, gray, gold, and rose gold from RMB 699 (USD 109) (16GB) to RMB 899 (USD 140) (32GB).
