MediaTek has already increased its holding in IC specialist affiliate Airoha Technology to 69.6%. The company will now buy the remaining shares and the two firms will merge. Airoha will be delisted from the Taiwan Stock Exchange on July 17th. Airoha designs and develops switches, amplifiers, STB tuners, transceivers and SoCs and Mediatek says that the move will streamline resources. It is seen as a strategic move to gain business in the internet of things field.
