Doogee of China has launched a new handset called the T5, aka ‘the Businessport Phone’. It is IP67-compliant, with a 5″ display (1280 x 720) and 4,500mAh battery with fast charging. Doogee claims that five minutes of power will provide ‘half a day’s’ use. The phone runs Android 6.0 on an octa-core MediaTek processor. It costs $210/$230, depending on the model.
Huawei has launched a tweaked version of its P9 smartphone in the USA, under the name Honor 8. Although mostly identical, the Honor 8 has an extra 1GB of RAM (4GB) on the 32GB model. It uses an octa-core processor (Kirin 950 as opposed to the 955 on the P9) running Android 6.0, and is available for pre-order now, for $450. Huawei is holding an event in the UK this month, at which it is expected to announce a European launch date for the phone.
The Oculus Rift is (finally) set to arrive in Europe. It will be launched in the UK on the 20th September, for £440 ($580) ex VAT.
