A variety of tablets have been unveiled by Acer for the Taiwan market. These are the Iconia One 7, Iconia One 8 and Iconia Tab 10, as well as the Iconia Talk S (supporting 4G voice communication).

The price of Amazon’s Fire Phone (32GB) has been cut by $250 in the USA. An unlocked version is now available for $200.

Dell’s Secure Venue Tablet is the result of a collaboration between Dell, Microsoft, Intel, Viasat and API Technologies. Designed for NATO and its member states, the specialised tablet can secure data up to Top Secret (UK and Canada) and Secret (NATO) levels. The tablet is based on the Venue 11 Pro (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 38), with a Core i5 Haswell processor and running Windows 8.1 Pro. Viasat’s Eclypt drive is used to secure data, and the tablet’s engineering, integration and Information Assurance are tested by SST (a division of API). The Secure Venue Tablet will be available in January.

The Basis Peak smartwatch (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 38) from Intel is now on sale in the USA, for $200.
