Magic Leap has chosen AT&T as its exclusive wireless distributor in the United States. AT&T is also investing in the augmented reality company and its CEO John Donovan has joined the Magic Leap board in an observer role.
Announcing the partnership, Donovan indicated that Magic Leap will make use of AT&T’s 5G network, which is expected to launch before the end of the year.
Back in March, Magic Leap announced the results of its Series D round of funding, in which it raised $461 million. More recently, a patent filed by the company surfaced last month, detailing AR glasses that monitors the user’s vital signs.
Magic Leap One, the company’s AR headset that has been shrouded in mystery throughout its development, will be sent to “qualified designers and developers” this year.
