Litemax Has Ultra-thin Double Sided Display

What They Say

Litemax of Taiwan has a new ‘stretch’ display that is a 1920 x 538 (16:4.44) format. Unusually, the display is double-sided. Unlike double-sided displays based on dual modules, this design uses a single light source made using LED light bars and an optimised light guide plate (LGP) and optical film. The display is just 14mm thick and has 500 cd/m² of output. The design reduces temperatures as well as minimising power consumption.

The display has a built-in media player and speakers and additioanl units can be mounted each side. The firm also highlighted a 36.8″ 1920 x 538 display with 1000 cd/m² and a dual 8:9 945 x 1080 display with the same output.

What We Think

The 8:9 format is unusual, but means that both sides of the display could be cut from the same 16:9 panel, I would think. (BR)
