Liberty Global Has Good 2016

Liberty Global added 313,000 subscribers across its next generation TV platforms in Q4, bringing the total to 1.2 million over the year. After deconsolidating the Ziggo business in the Netherlands, the company has 6.7 million subscribers with its advanced systems including Horizon TV, Horizon-Lite, TiVo and Yelo TV. These were 38% of its video base (excluding DTH) in Europe. The company will support Docsys 3.1 from the end of 2017.

In the UK, Liberty Global’s Virgin Media said that it added 304,000 RGUs in 2016, the best performance since 2009. Net additions were 31,000, with more customer churn following a price increase. The company added 465,000 homes to its Project Lightning network upgrade with 800,000 more planned for 2017.
