LG Display has developed a 5.7″ smartphone LCD with 1440 x 2880 resolution (18:9 or 2:1 aspect ratio) which means 538 ppi. The display is 1mm thick and the top bezel is 0.2mm (20%) thinner and 0.54mm (10%) thinner than other quadHD displays. The display has in-cell touch and that mean no cover glass for touch.
Transmittance has been increased by 10%, so that power consumption has been reduced by 30% and the company claims that outdoor display will be improved.
LG said that LG Electronics would use the display in its next flagship smartphone.
