LGD Adds LG Chem as Deuterium Supplier – Samsung to Boost Foldables

The Korean ET News reports that after initially getting supplies of ‘deuterium blue’ from DuPont of the US, LG Display is now also getting supplies from LG Chem for its OLED.EX panels which have higher brightness and longer lifetime. The report said that LG Chem recorded sales of ?45.5 billion ($35 million) in ‘light emitting materials’ in Q1 2022. (Deuterium in OLED)

The Korea Herald reported last week that LG Chem is now the ‘world’s No. 3 chemical brand’, behind BASF and Sabic of Saudi Arabia and based on a brand valuation by ‘Brand Finance’.

Separately, the ET News said that Samsung Electronics has set a target of 15 million folding smartphones in its expected Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 models, combined. The share taken by Chinese suppliers is said to have increased with Sunny Optical supplying the 12 megapixel front and rear cameras for the Fold 4. Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Partron were selected as the main supplier for the 50-megapixel cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (BR)
