LG Display plans to adopt TADF blue materials from Cynora, according to Korean website DDaily. The material will be used in the RGBW panels for TVs that LG is making.
Analyst Comment
As we reported from the SID Business Conference (Cynora Promises High-Efficiency Blue TADF OLED in 2017), Cynora is expecting to have commercial availability of materials by the end of this year. The company seems to have reasonable numbers for its materials, but said that it’s blue was at 450nm, although customers were looking for 460nm. UDC has expressed doubts about the speed with which Cynora could make this change, but the German company is quite confident. (BR)
Just as we went to press, we saw a report in the ET Times of Korea that LG is to invest €15 million in Cynora, which backs up the story. LG Display already has an investment in Kyulux, which is also developing TADF materials, but initially in red and green. (BR)
