What They Say
AVCesar, a website in France, has reported that LG will make a new size of 83″ in its range of OLED panels. The company has also confirmed information in the Japanese press that it will be making available higher brightness (1,000 cd/m²) panels available to its OLED TV and monitor customers. Previously, Panasonic had developed such panels, which add a passive cooling sheet to the back of the OLED. LG has confirmed that it is using the same approach.
What We Think
I expect this information to be formally announced at CES in January. I also spotted some big price promotions in the UK this morning on OLED TVs from Panasonic and others. It’s a good time to buy an OLED TV as LG tries to push demand to absorb the increasing volume of OLED panels now coming from its latest fab. (BR)
