LG Electronics (LG) recently announced what it describes as a renewed 2025 QNED evo lineup, which the company claims incorporates new proprietary color technology, wireless viewing capabilities, and AI-based personalization features. According to LG, its updated LCD TV lineup is designed to strengthen its position in the global premium TV market, complementing its self-emissive OLED range with what it terms a premium LCD offering.
The 2025 QNED evo models employ a nanocell technology it calls dynamic QNED color solution, which the company says replaces quantum dots to deliver a wider color gamut, although, strictly speaking, it does not. According to LG’s marketing materials, nanocell uses what it describes as an undisclosed nanomaterial to narrow the color spectrum passing through the LCD’s color filters. By blocking specific wavelengths between red and green, the company suggests it can reduce unwanted spectral overlap, potentially enhancing color purity and improving overall color fidelity.
LG further claims that these televisions achieve 100 percent color volume, as certified by testing organization Intertek. The QNED evo lineup will feature 4K 144Hz image transmission without cables, using what LG calls a Zero Connect Box. Additionally, the lineup employs an α8 AI Processor, which LG says offers a nearly 70% improvement in AI performance over the previous year, and that the TVs use new AI features for picture and sound adjustments.
The TVs will provide personalized content recommendations via webOS 25, an updated AI Magic Remote with a dedicated AI button, and other customization options. The company says it will offer models ranging from 40 inches to what it describes as an “ultra-large” 100-inch option.
