LG Display recorded Q3 profits of KRW18 billion ($15.8 million), down 96% YoY from KRW477 ($419.8 million), on turnover of KRW6.1 trillion ($5.4 billion), a decrease of 12% from KRW6.97 trillion ($6.1 billion) a year ago. For the nine months there were losses of KRW332 billion ($292 million), compared with profits of KRW1.9 trillion ($1.7 billion) in the year-ago period, on revenue which fell 16% to KRW17.4 trillion ($15.3 billion) from KRW20.7 trillion ($18.2 billion). The company said that, after five years of growth, this quarter saw the OLED TV panel business turn to profit for the first time. In Q3, TV panels accounted for 41% of sales, followed by mobile devices (21%), tablets and notebooks (20%) and desktop monitors (18%).

Because of the tough times in TV, in particular, monitor panels took a higher share than they have done for some time. (BR)
