LG Display’s CFO said that while around 15% of LG Display’s sales last year came from OLED TVs, the share will be in mid-20% range in 2018. In an investor conference call he said that production this year will be in the range of 2.5 million to 2.8 million, which may be below the level of demand. It is considering boosting capacity in 2019, with a conversion of some LCD capacity being considered.
However, he said, demand in the mobile market for flexible OLEDs is less clear, so the company will be cautious in its investments. He also said that automotive makers are keen to adopt the technology.
