LG Display Begins Mass Production of 40-Inch P2P Automotive Display

LG Display has started mass production of a 40-inch pillar-to-pillar (P2P) automotive display, designed to cover the full front area of both the driver’s and front passenger’s seats. The company aims to offer a display that can show multiple functions simultaneously, including the digital dashboard, navigation, climate control, entertainment, and more.

The display also includes Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM) technology, which adjusts the viewing angle so that content remains visible to the front passenger while being obscured from the driver’s view. It also features local dimming technology, which helps to reduce heat generation and power consumption, benefits that are seen as important for improving the efficiency of electric vehicles.

The 40-inch P2P display will be installed in the Afeela, the first sedan from the joint venture Sony Honda Mobility. The vehicle combines Sony’s IT and entertainment technologies with Honda’s vehicle manufacturing expertise, aiming to enhance both driver assistance systems and onboard entertainment.
