ETNews from Korea reports that LG Chem has started to supply a blue host OLED material to BOE in China for the first time. The firm is said to be using the LG material in smartphone panels. The report identifies Idemitsu Kosan as the incumbent supplier of blue materials.
We reported in 2017 that LG Chem and Idemitsu had made a collaboration agreement (Idemitsu Kosan and LG Chem Trade OLED patents) but it’s unclear if the materials supplied are affected by that.
Idemitsu recently claimed leadership as the supplier of the most efficient fluorescent blue OLED emitters. (Idemitsu Kosan developed the world’s most efficient fluorescent blue OLED emitter system)

Of course, fluorescent blue is now under severe threat from phosphorescent and TADF materials. (BR)
