LG Display has announced it has commenced mass production at its new 5G OLED lighting fab in Gumi, Korea. The new line will have an initial capacity of 15,000 substrates per month, around 30 times more than the company’s previous 2G fab.
Company estimates show the new facility will drive a cost saving of up to 95%, encouraging substantial growth in the adoption of OLED lighting. The sector is expected to grow at a CAGR of 52% over the next decade.
