We met up with Lenovo which had a booth that was divided up between the Lenovo branded products, Motorola (a small area) and the Medion brand that it runs. In the middle of the booth, there was an AR game of Star Wars set up so that players could enjoy using their ‘light sabres’.
New products were in the Yoga and Miix ranges. The Yoga 920 is a 360º hinge unit that has an active pen on the 13.9″ FullHD or UltraHD IPS touchscreen. Although we liked the UltraHD screen, staff on the booth were promoting the benefits of the FullHD version as there is only limited difference in image quality at that size, but battery life goes down from 15.5 hours to 10.8 hours by going up to higher resolution. The system has processors up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 with 8GB to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD Storage. Audio support includes Dolby Atmos (which was very impressive when we checked the demo via headphones). The 920 has dual USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 and Power Delivery. (elsewhere at the show, we saw a Thunderbolt 3 demo using the 920 with a GPU graphic dock).
The 920 has a weight of 1.37 kg (3.02 lbs) and it is 13.95 mm (0.55 in) thick.
The Miix 520 is the latest 2in1 that has been updated to include up to an 8th generation Core i7 and has 4G to 16GB of Ram and 1TB of SSD. The display is a 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen that uses an active pen. There is a single USB Type C connector and it has battery life of up to 7.5 hours.
The x4 is a new Motorola phone that has a 5.2″ FullHD display using an IPS LCD with Gorilla Glass. The processor is a Snapdragon 640 with an Adreno 508 GPU. RAM is 3or 4GB depending on the region, while storage is 32GB or a choice of 32GB or 64GB storage according to the region. Video is recorded up to 30fps with 2160p or 60fps at 1080p. The battery is 3000 mAh and the phone has a dual configuration with a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP camera with 120º field of view. The selfie camera is a 16MP version. It is water resistant to IP68 and has single or dual SIMs
