ViewSonic has a new version of its mobile LED projector, the M2e which uses an RGBB light source to produce 1,000 Ansi lumens. It has a short throw lens with a 1:1.2 throw ratio. It has an integrated ‘SmartTV’ engine and can stream videos directly. It has FullHD resolution and is said to have 125% of Rec.709 coverage. The set can be used with a power bank of 45W, or powered by a USB-C power supply.

The projector is selling in Europe for €649 including VAT. ($650 + VAT)

What We Think

I couldn’t resist covering this product as I have been reporting on the projector market for long enough that I remember when InFocus launched its ‘personal projector’, at 3Kg, $7000 and 500 lumens (1000 hour lamp life) and with 800 x 600 resolution in 1997. Not long after, the first 1,000 lumen mainstream projectors became available and it was a big deal! Before that, to get such high brightness, you had to go to Barco or other high end vendors for their ‘Light Cannons’! (BR)
