CinemaCon is a relatively new show in the industry, with its first iteration taking place in 2011. As well as showing off new cinema technologies and products – The Hobbit in HFR was previewed at the 2012 event – the event is a chance to see clips of upcoming films and meet the stars.
This year, the laser projection rollout was in full swing, with products from Barco, Christie and NEC – but nothing from Sony, yet. Immersive cinema was also a feature, with Barco building on its Escape format, which was introduced two years ago.
CinemaCon 2017 will take place from the 27th – 30th March next year in Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas.
