A new gaming brand will be revealed by BenQ, called Zowie. Zowie products will cover monitors and peripherals, such as mice and keypads, with a focus on the competitive gaming (eSports) market.
In monitors, BenQ will show the new Z2470H, which will be released in January. The unit has a slim bezel, BenQ’s Eye Care technology and a VA panel. This provides the 23.8″ display with 1920 x 1080 resolutiion, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 4ms (grey-to-grey) response time. Also on show will be the XR3501 curved monitor (BenQ’s Curve Brings Gamers Into Action) and XL2730Z (BenQ Begins Freesync Introduction).
The new HT4050 and HT3050 projectors will be on display, as well as the lower-cost HT2050.
Working with LG Electronics, LG Display will – according to Asian media – show large-size rollable OLED products. A source (which we consider unreliable) says the displays will be much as 77″ in size. Another says that the company will show an 18″ unit. LGD is considering whether to mass-produce rollable displays.
LG Electronics (Central #8,204) will show v3.0 of its smart TV platform, WebOS, which adds new features and faster content source switching. WebOS 3.0 has three ‘magic’ smart features: Magic Zoom, Magic Mobile Connection and an upgraded Magic Remote.
Magic Zoom can be used to magnify content ‘without any degradation in picture quality’. Magic Mobile Connection is used to share content between the small screen and the big screen, using the LG TV Plus app. Finally, LG’s new Magic Remote is designed to simplify control of set-top boxes, with ‘power’ and ‘menu’ buttons, as well as the ability to control DVR functions.
Another new feature is Channel Plus, which provides access to a range of OTT content in one location, as well as combining it with linear broadcast TV channels.
A picture-by-picture feature, Multi-view, is built in; this can be used to watch two content sources at the same time. Additionally, smart home appliances from LG, and select other manufacturers, can be controlled on the TV using the IoTV app.
