LA Schools Ask Apple for Multi-Million Dollar Refund

It’s a bad time for iPads in education. First, schools began to favour Chromebooks over the expensive tablets – and now the Los Angeles Unified School District has asked Apple for a multi-million dollar refund. The LAUSD has told Apple that it will not accept continued deliveries and would seek the refund after it transpired that students had managed to hack the tablets and that “the vast majority of students are still unable to access the Pearson curriculum on iPads”. Pearson, the company loading the tablets with educational software, told The Register that there have been ‘challenges’ with the roll-out.
